The recognition of the Republic by American countries
Abstract
This article offers an overview of the recognition of the Brazilian Republic by American countries, considering that the recognition by other nations in the international scenario was necessary for the full implementation of the new form of government From the point of view of international relations, it analyzes the configuration of Brazilian foreign policy after 1889, highlighting the process of recognition of the new regime by Argentina and the United States, which were influential countries for the balance of power in the American continent at that moment. The sources used in this survey consist mainly of the Diplomatic Archive of the Republic’s Recognition.
