This article examines the scientific divulgation of space science in Chilean Magazines Zig-Zag and Ercilla, during the 1950s, under an approach that consider press media as an agent in the production and circulation of scientific knowledge. First, a controversy about flying saucers is analyzed in which the authority of experts to explain space phenomena is questioned. Second, it will be seen how magazines anticipated and envisioned space exploration in the middle of the decade. Finally, it will be examined how magazines took advantage of the interest in outer space to divulgate local science and link it to an international context.
