Notes on immersive realism: image and sound in Gravity

Through the analysis of the stylistics strategies of composition of image and sound of the feature film Gravity (2013), this essay aims to analyze the notion of diegetic immersion as a modality of realism in contemporary audiovisual production. Considering that diegetic immersion is an important characteristic of contemporary cinema style, we will discuss whether the notion of realism can be attributed to audiovisual projects that associate the concept with the use of three-dimensional technologies.
