This article makes a filmic analysis of the documentary film Doméstica (2011), directed by Gabriel Mascaro, connecting concepts of subjectivity and authorship in documentaries and the forms of representation of the self nowadays. The characters and narrative of the film work as an analytical matrix to understand terms like self-ethnographies and self-representations. These concepts are, actually, more connected to the particularity of approaches in documentaries than to a narrative grounded in the representation and totalization of reality.
Keywords: documentary, Ethnography, self-ethnography, Doméstica.
