Glauber Rocha and trance in television: The case of “Abertura”

Abstract

Glauber Rocha and trance in television: The case of “Abertura” is a partial result of a research project on the theories in dispersion of Brazilian filmmakers about audiovisual productions which seeks to identify elements of a coming theory that understands the ways in which these filmmakers see Brazilian audiovisual productions. This article tries to understand audiovisual productions from an aesthetic perspective that transcends the medium, considering different strategies of modeling in order to update the issue of the audiovisual industry in the Third World and to present the aesthetic-political novelty brought by the experience of “Abertura”.

Alexandre Rocha da Silva, UFRGS

Pós-doutorado pela Universidade de Paris III/ Sorbonne Nouvelle. Doutor em Ciências da Comunicação e Mestre em Semiótica (Unisinos). Graduado em Jornalismo (Ufrgs). É professor do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação e Informação da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Fabico/Ufrgs). Tem experiência na área de comunicação, com ênfase em Semiótica, Teorias e Metodologias de Pesquisa em Comunicação e Processos Midiáticos, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: cinema, audiovisualidades, política e cultura. Participa do Diretório de Pesquisa do CNPq Semiótica e Culturas da Comunicação (GPESC). É autor dos livros A dispersão na semiótica das minorias (2001) e Comunicação e Minorias (2008). arsrocha@gmail.com.
