A city on a clinical view. On the concept of optical unconscious
Abstract
The article initially discusses the notion of optical unconscious formulated by the German philosopher, Walter Benjamin in middle of the ’1930s. It then presents certain methodological experiences and empirical materials that hypothetically would make it possible to review the concept and use it for the proposal of a “metropolitan optical unconscious.”
Key words: optical unconscious, urban visual communication, photography.
