Abstract

This article presents a proposal for the typological organization of infographics, as well as its classification as a kind of basic informative item, taking as a starting point the case study of ten years of the magazines Superinteressante (Super-interesting) and Saúde (Health), publications of Editora Abril which have won international awards for their diversified use of infographics. Beginning with this, a wider discussion is proposed regarding infographics in general and not only those aspects traditionally used in publications concerned with scientific journalism. This work is one of the results of the research project, “The use of infographics in Brazilian scientific journalism”, developed in the NUPEJOC/Federal University of Santa Catarina.

Key words: journalism, infographics, journalistic genres, scientific journalism.
