The 1980s is considered a milestone in cinematography gaucho, because of the implementation of the rural theme to the urban theme. The aegis of the film “pampeiro” with anecdotal characters was gradually abandoned to take a remarkably contemporary route, as it appears in “Deu pra ti anos 70”, “Coisa na roda”, “Inverno”, “Verdes anos”, “Me beija”, and “Aqueles dois”, produced by “Casa de Cinema” of Porto Alegre. A selected filmography reveals the impact that these securities accounted for the regional culture. These changes marked an entire generation of filmmakers that broke with a past of repression and began their first steps towards Brazil’s redemocratization of and an opening policy. This paper demonstrates this scenario, and discusses some of the social, cultural and political force in the period. Moreover, it aims to investigate the building process of the collective imagination proposed by Cornelius Castoriadis, Jacques Aumont and Christian Metz.
Key words: film gaucho, imaginary, filmic narrative.Downloads
