Preta Gil: as ações de uma celebridade-resistência no contexto pandêmico brasileiro
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to understand how a celebrity activates its political capital on Instagram to oppose social oppression, configuring itself as a celebrity-resistance. From a pragmatist (França; Simões, 2020a, 2020b) and intersectional (Crenshaw, 2002; Carrera, 2021a) approach, the analysis focuses on 39 publications from the profile of the singer Preta Gil, collected between May 4 and June 4, 2021 , a period started by a remarkable event in her life: the death of Paulo Gustavo, as a result of Covid-19. By looking at the positions and values assumed by this celebrity, in addition to the minority social groups to which she pursues to link, we seek to reflect on the role that celebrities-resistance can play in the symbolic disputes held in the contemporary Brazilian context.
