Algorithmic desire from the perspective of the expository society:
an analysis of dating apps

The article addresses how relationship apps are inserted in a paradigm of the Expository Society and how the production of desires brings changes when looking for partners for affective-romantic and affective-sexual relationships. The objective of this research is to identify how the political use of images is used within this logic and maintains an exhibitionist-voyeuristic movement. For this, we chose four dating apps with the highest number of downloads and active users (Tinder, OkCupid, Bumble and Happn). From the reference brought by Bernard E. Harcourt, we want to discuss how the architecture of these relationship applications reinforces this logic and favors the business models that operate in this current context. We opted for a comparative analysis between these four applications. The results bring important observations about standardization of applications, primacy in the use of the image and, also, important new questions about changes in relationships from the changes that have occurred.
