Desestabilizando o gênero?
Super-heroínas, feminilidades e gênero midiático em transformação
Abstract
The superhero genre has grown widely since the first comic book publications in the 1940s in the United States, until more recently. The history of the genre, as its name indicates, reaffirms its approach to the male universe, either in the forms of production and consumption, either in the construction of characters. However, a closer examination indicates that women have always been part of this promising industry since its origins and, increasingly, have gained prominence through acts of resistance from comic artists, illustrators, screenwriters and comic book fan communities. This article aims to discuss the tension that women cause in the superhero genre in comics, changing the conventions that historically define the media genre. Genre, in this case, is defined as a cultural category in permanent transformation brought about by social disputes over the characteristics of gender identity.
