Abstract

This paper analyzes the disputes in digital platforms that start from scientific dissemination and that points out contradictions between the role of scientist and science influencer and the discursive clashes derived therefrom. Our observation focuses on the specific case of Atila Iamarino, taking into account the emergence of different intersections related to his position as a public figure. We understand that figures who invest in an intersection between the roles of researcher and digital influencer end up not only producing content related to their field of specialization, but also materials about the humanities, composing advertorials without clear distinctions. We’ve analyzed the video “The free market is a computer”, published on the YouTube channel Nerdologia, and the responses and comments generated on Twitter. We start from a qualitative multi-methodological perspective between platforms, combining textual analysis of Youtube videos to Analysis of the Construction of Meanings in Digital Networks (HENN, 2018 et al) and the categories of Intersection Roulette (CARRERA, 2020). As results, the status of "modest witness" (HARAWAY, 1997) and "moral entrepreneur (MIKOLSCI, 2021) materialized themselves in Attila's positions and corroborate his social capital as an influencer and scientific disseminator. We understand that approaches that favor intersectionality and the problematization of the relationship between scientific production, subordinated identities and platformization are fundamental and bring more equity to combat scientific denial in digital media.
