Research that deals with local and regional television journalism refers to the proximity as a way of understanding and justifying the communication service provided by vehicles, usually with a view to the strategies practiced to become closer to the space where they are inserted. This work surveys the studies that involve proximity in the regional and local television media, proposing ways of seeing it through the newscast, the audience, the territory and the formats used by the news programs. An analysis of 165 videos from four lunchtime news programs known as “Praça 1” of Rede Globo affiliates in the interior of Minas Gerais state showed that the creation of specific format and collaboration channels have become frequent as proximity strategies , but it is not possible to say that such resources have contributed to the increase of information quality.
