The internet meme, as an indefectible expression of digital culture, represents one of the many facets of the ludic nowadays. In the present paper, we aim at thinking about memes using the concept of technical images coined by the media philosopher Vilém Flusser; such technoimages embody a telematic utopia which promotes a dialogue via images by means of a creative agency between humans and technologies – that is, a purely informational game through the playful binary images. Therefore, our proposal here is that this Flusserian homo ludens indicates a quite clear interface between technical images and internet memes. In order to outline the homines ludentes’ ethos in the network age, we conducted a case study on the meme #TheDress to identify the characteristic features of the technicalmemetic images.
