Abstract

This article examines Sartre’s Nausea in order to describe anguish as a fundamental affective disposition, interpreted from the standpoint of Heidegger’s philosophy. The text uses literature as a means to present an affective portrait of this disposition, and help understand the concept of anguish. Sartre wants to describe how the lack of meaning in life reveals the truth. We believe this interpretive path is relevant, because in addition to describing the affective disposition at stake, it will reveal aspects of it that could not be approached by Sartre’s philosophy on its own.

Keywords: Heidegger, Sartre, affection, anguish, truth.
