Abstract

Exposure to physical agents in the workplace is a source of health risks and undermine the well being of workers. The article aims to identify and quantify the magnitude of the noise potential physical risk to the emergence of occupational disease and potentially harmful to workers' health. The case study was conducted in the metalworking sector in a midsize furniture company. By quantitative analysis performed by instantaneous measurements of sound pressure level (SPL) and noise dosimetry, we compared with the Regulatory Standard recommends that the Ministry of Labour, NR 15, Annex 1. It was registered the value of 406,4%, mean value (Lavg) of 95,1 dB(A) and normalized exposition level (NEN) of 87,9 dB(A), considered excessive.
