Abstract

Este artigo tem como objetivo comparar uma tradução e uma adaptação da mesma editora de Romeu e Julieta, de William Shakespeare, a fim de refletir sobre o processo tradutório em vista dos diferentes públicos a que as obras destinam-se. Partindo dos conceitos de tradução e adaptação e dos objetivos a que cada livro se propõe, verifica-se que as diferenças estruturais e lexicais dos dois textos justificam-se e que a tradutora e o adaptador mantém-se fiéis ao receptor final, conservando a essência da história original.
