This paper examines commonalities between Henri Bergson's philosophy and Alfred Jarry's ‘Pataphysics. The main objective is to analyze the creativity of the artistic imagination as an aspiration to the open in human thought. ‘Pataphysics, a science of imaginary solutions dedicated to the study of the laws governing exceptions, is analyzed through elements of Bergsonian philosophy, such as intuition, the mediating image, the fabulation function, the critique of representation, the influence of the virtual, indeterminacy, metaphysical empiricism and the creative aspect of the élan vital. By proposing a satirical critique of epistemology and ontology with 'Pataphysics', Jarry's artistic creativity managed to achieve philosophical relevance.
