This article discusses the experience of the Instant (Augenblick) considering the ontology of subjectivity developed by Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, and Heidegger. The work proposes that the Instant constitutes a concrete experience of rupture that has as its background and correlate the leveling public mediocrity. In the Instant, anguish is installed, revealing the domination of the public over subjectivity (such as publicity, nihilism, and technical domination). At the same time, it reveals the possibility of recovering one's own self (Selbst) in its singularity. Conversion, overcoming, appropriation, or escape into impersonality are possibilities open in the Instant. In this horizon, the article offers elements for understanding the experience that is named with the notion of the Instant and its relevance for thinking an ethics of singularity.
