Abstract

O artigo retoma o debate Gadamer-Habermas acerca da pretensão de universalidade da hermenêutica, com a finalidade de esclarecer o sentido do conceito de tradução utilizado por Habermas, quando este se refere aos equivalentes semânticos (intuições morais) dos conteúdos religiosos e estabelece a cláusula (Proviso) da “tradução institucional” de argumentos religiosos na esfera pública formal. A retomada da controvérsia hermenêutica pode contribuir para uma tentativa inicial de esclarecimento semântico da noção de tradução, apresentando elementos conceituais relevantes para situar o pensamento pós-metafísico habermasiano no contexto do pós-secularismo.

The article retakes the Gadamer-Habermas debate on the hermeneutics’ claim to universality, in order to clarify the meaning of the concept of translation used by Habermas, when he refers to the semantic equivalents (moral intuitions) of religious contents and establishes the ‘institutional translation proviso’ of religious arguments in the formal public sphere. The retake of the hermeneutic controversy may contribute to an initial attempt for the semantic clarification of the notion of translation, presenting relevant conceptual elements to situate Habermasian post-metaphysical thinking in the context of post-secularism.

Luiz Bernardo Leite Araujo concluiu o Mestrado em Filosofia na Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro em 1986 e o Doutorado em Filosofia na Université Catholique de Louvain (Bélgica) em 1991. Realizou estágios de Pós-Doutorado na Université Catholique de Louvain (1998), na State University of New York (2001-2002), na Goethe Universität Frankfurt am Main (2013), na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (2013-2014) e na University of Colorado (2018). Foi Professor da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (1983-1992), da Universidade Santa Úrsula (1984-1992) e da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (1992-1996). Atualmente é Professor Titular da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) e Pesquisador do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Atua na área de Filosofia, com ênfase em Ética e Filosofia Política.
