Based on his works System of nature or the laws of the physical world and the moral world, from 1770, and Universal morality or the duties of man founded on his nature, from 1776, the objective of this article is to deal with the theoretical foundations and of the practical consequences of the moral philosophy of the materialist, atheist and enlightenment thinker Baron de Holbach (1723-1789), which has happiness as its ultimate purpose, education and politics as its concrete means, and in the general laws of matter, which they would be absolutely physical, its primordial fact and, at the same time, its main challenge.
