The objective of this study was to understand the meanings attributed to stable romantic relationships among young homosexual males. We interviewed 17 homosexual men, with ages averaging 25.5, who were in stable relationships averaging 3.6 years. We used two tools: The Life History Technique and Semi-structured Interview. From the analysis of the thematic content, we noted that the concept of stable relationship gained various facets, allowing the analysis that they are not only social/religious issues, which may define a status, but especially the daily experiences and how the couple perceives themselves. Among the essential factors for the constitution and maintenance of these relationships over time, aspects emerged include respect, complicity, love, as well as shared plans and expectations. One of the aspects that deserve to be highlighted in this theme is fidelity. The conflicts in these relationships must be investigated in future studies.
