Abstract

The mental health care of women remains limited due to the lack of specialized services. Therefore, the study aimed to present socio-demographic characteristics of women who sought psychological service in a Basic Health Unit (UBS) and characterize their psychological adaptation, in order to provide subsidies for multidisciplinary intervention. Trials were conducted with a random sample of women who sought psychological care at UBS and who were over 18 years old. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, following the script of The Scale for Redefined Efficacy of Adaptation (EDAO-R). Data analysis was conducted according to the criteria of the scale used in a quantitative manner. About 50% of women had, as a result, a serious or severe ineffective adaptation. The results show that complaints are mainly related to affective-relational behavior, indicating that interventions should be made regarding those aspects and their implications in other behaviors.
