Abstract

Brazilian woman, in public and private spaces, points to a new sketch of femininity marked by high levels of personal, professional, social and emotional demands. Considering the configuration of such scenario, this paper intends to analyze in a case study the interactions of multiple activities developed by women (house and children caring, paid work) and its possible repercussions on health. The participant is a married, 30 years old woman with children, who works as a civil police officer in Recife city. Results show that being a
“multi” woman in contemporaneity leads to satisfaction and self-realization in everything she does, even though there is a price to be paid regarding suffering and emotional overload. On the other hand, this amount of responsibility ends up causing serious health issues.

Key words: work feminine, quality life, woman health.
