Abstract

The aim of this study is to present a case study with the application of the Individual Psychotherapeutic Care Protocol for Victims of Child Sexual Abuse (PAPI-ASI). A six-year-old female child who was a victim of sexual abuse took part in the study. The intervention aimed to reduce symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as well as to reduce and/or extinguish undesirable behaviors resulting from child sexual abuse (ASI) present in the initial evaluation. Results were quantitatively evaluated in pre- and post-intervention measures with the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), answered by the parents, and qualitatively with the clinical evaluation and parents’ report on the changes observed in the child’s behavior during the intervention. The overall outcome of the intervention was positive, with improvements in attention, less difficulty in completing activities, and lower frequency and intensity of anxiety. Initially, the participant had sufficient clinical criteria for the diagnosis of PTSD, which at the end of the intervention were subclinical. Finally, the study presents promising results of the approached protocol, emphasizing the potential of becoming a valid instrument in the clinical dynamics related to ASI.
