Abstract

The objective of the work is to verify the perception of stricto sensu graduate students about the remote teaching-learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic. The originality of the investigation resides in the attention to unanswered questions about the effect of the pandemic on the activities of stricto sensu graduate students, who mostly participated in presential classes before the pandemic. The research question was addressed by a qualitative, descriptive research, using primary data collected in two focus groups composed of students from two stricto sensu graduate programs at a community university in the southern region of Brazil. The content analysis technique was used to create thematic categories of analysis. As a result, information was obtained about the students' perception in four categories: changes in the teaching-learning process, main advantages of the remote teaching model, disadvantages of the model and challenges and difficulties encountered. It was identified that the methodology, format and content of the classes were not changed in the digital environment, remaining very close to what happened in the classroom, including some benefits, such as favoring greater participation in the discussions. On the other hand, the lack of interaction and difficulty in contact with colleagues and teachers, personal adaptation to develop a study routine and time management emerged with the model's disadvantages and difficulties.
