Self-productions: A speculative approach

Abstract

In a post-industrial scenario, where classical industry is ever more frequently converting into new forms, the form/function binomial and the notion of product need to be reanalysed. In a productive context, Advanced Design as a critical transdiscipline is intended as a cultural intermediary which responds to the economic and systemic crisis by being able to trigger, through the project, new attitudes and changes in the paradigm of thought. A transdisciplinary, future-oriented thinking hybridizes different fields of knowledge such as anthropology, science, art, technology and poetry through a humanistic approach. This allows a deep and total look at the complexity of the world. Through a kind of critical research that hybridizes the digital and the manual, the operator of Advanced Design has the opportunity to express himself from a particularly original and evolved experimental point of view. Synaesthetic artifacts, which result from his thinking, create new expressive possibilities and unprecedented fields of action. The goal of this critical approach is to question the world, to move the minds and to encourage debate in order to lead the way towards the future evolution of contemporary matter and thought.

Designer e ricercatrice specializzata nuovi processi produttivi in ambito postdigitale e  prodotto design oriented.

Le sue ricerche progettuali indagano una contemporaneità multidisciplinare, attraverso l’ibridazione di differenti processi manifatturieri e nuove tecniche di produzione postdigitale.

Nell’ambito della ricerca di dottorato in particolare la ricerca è partita da un’analisi critica delle più recenti pratiche di autoproduzione digitale in relazione alle loro metodologie di lavoro, attraverso una rivalorizzazione dei valori umanistici del design e un’intersezione tra gli scenari del postumano e la rivoluzione biotecnologica in corso.

L’obiettivo della ricerca è stato quello di individuare nuovi processi produttivi, che andassero oltre la tradizionale nozione di digitale, verso una nuova concezione di convergenza, definita NBIC (Nanotechnology, Biotechnology,  Information Technology, Cognitive Science). Il punto di arrivo è stato il risultato di un’ibridazione trasversale tra discipline di pensiero umanistiche, come la filosofia, l’estetica, l’antropologia, e discipline scientifiche, come le scienze biologiche, l’ingegneria dei materiali, delle macchine e dei processi produttivi.

In relazione al progetto europeo KIICS, grazie ad una collaborazione con Città della scienza, parte dell’attività sperimentale e di ricerca all’estero è stata svolta all’interno del Waag Society Institute di Amsterdam e nello specifico presso l’Open Wetlab, laboratorio transdisciplinare di biotecnologie, arte e design.
