Becoming and fashion as expression of subjectivities and identities
Abstract
In this paper, we present an identification approach to long-cycle trends in order to problematize the relationship between this approach and the fashion in the contemporary scene. To do so, we list fashion and design, and also analyze the impact of their relationship with communication, aiming to locate the emergence of fashion while becoming the identification mechanism. We assume that trends emerge from ideas that permeate consciousness-voices in everyday social life, configured as sensitivities that emerge from interpersonal relations. We support Bakhtin’s dialogism (2008), Maffesoli’s comprehensive sociology (1988) and Geertz’s interpretive anthropology (1978) to address such crossings. We also support the British cultural studies to understand how the social representations and identities are constructed, aiming to discuss the role of fashion communication from interdisciplinary appropriations.
