Possibilities for contribution of design in clusters: A case study in gems and jewelry sector
Abstract
This paper presents the results of studies related to the integration of design in local clusters, exemplified by two case studies conducted in Gems and Jewels clusters from mining regions of Minas Gerais. By research-action, the studies seek to identify opportunities for social and productive innovation over activating unique local values that guide the development of products with allusion to the territory of origin. The results indicate that small educational and technological actions can contribute to social, economic and environmental transformation, supporting to initiate a gradual process of local development.
