The dilemmas of popular organization in the solidarity economy movement in Brazil

The formation of solidarity economy initiatives that appear with the main perspective of surpassing the conditions of poverty has become more notable from 1990 onwards. Solidarity Economic Enterprises are a means of collective organization of labor in which the relation between capital and labor is not the traditional one, in which the management dynamics conveys an important political and cultural meaning, off ering conditions that enable the overcoming of the deprivation of political and material capability. The development of the solidarity economy in Brazil led to the consolidation of the solidarity economy movement, whose main expression is the Brazilian Forum of Solidarity Economy. The research that orients this article analyses the dynamics which delineate the creation and consolidation of that Forum. It also aims, through the mentioned research subject, at the perception of how the political actors of this movement are confi guring popular organization in favor of social transformation.
