Jesuit reductions and Indian villages: controversies over the indigenous population (17th-18th century)
Abstract
The article presents some controversies over the diversity of the indigenous population during the period of the Jesuit missions and the discussions that took place after the Jesuits’ expulsion on the phenomenon of flight or desertion due to the difficulty of keeping the indigenous population within the villages.
