Feeling-go-round: Melodrama in SBT’s telenovela

Abstract

Carrossel (2012 - 2013) is a telenovela for children produced by SBT, in which elements of the classic melodramatic narrative can be observed, specially expressed by stylistic features. By analyzing the melodramatic aspects in the product, the main goal was to identify the significant resources that compose the scenes (and probably induce emotions into the viewer). By doing so, it is expected to begin to understand how SBT applies a possible “stylistics of melodrama for children” in its serialized fictional narrative.
