However, the construct has a vast tradition in psychological research and presents several scales, of which gaps can be pointed out, such as instability in the number of factors in the construct. In this sense, we developed the Locus of Control Scale (ELOCUS), which assesses generalized expectations of control in adults. The objective was to present validity evidence based on the content of the constructed items. For the item’s elaboration, we carried out a theoretical review on the subject, which originated the ELOCUS with 82 items, divided into two factors and nine facets, four of which represent the internal locus of control and five of the external. The items were first evaluated by judges with experience in instrument construction (80.5% absolute agreement for clarity and 61.0% for coherence and Gwet AC1 of 0.881 for clarity and 0.736 for coherence) and, subsequently, in a pilot study with a sample of representatives of the target audience for semantic adjustments. After analysis, the finalized instrument had 69 items and indicated satisfactory evidence regarding the content of the items.
Leila Maria Ferreira Couto Bruno Bonfá-Araujo Makilim Nunes Baptista Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.01 Personal transformation in clinical supervision https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/24624
The relationship between supervisor and supervisee may be understood as a means to enhance the supervision techniques, as the instrument of supervision itself and as a context that shapes the person of the therapist. The literature on supervision mentions but hardly explores this third aspect. The objective of this study was to investigate the personal impacts of supervision. Ten supervisors and ten supervisees were interviewed. Data collection and analysis were guided by the tenets of grounded theory. The results show that supervision effects supervisors and supervisees similarly. Regardless of the didactic goals and the treatment model adopted, both supervisee and supervisor learn about themselves, gain interpersonal efficiency, and deal better with their own difficult feelings. For supervisors, supervising is a path of personal fulfillment, being a source of incentive and joy.
Luciano Barbosa de Queiroz Luc Vandenberghe Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.02 The transmission of the meanings attributed to marriage between different family generations https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/24690
This multiple case study aimed to understand how the meanings attributed to marriage are transmitted between three family generations. Six women belonging to three generations of two families, aged between 28 and 90 years, all married, participated. Face-to-face, individual interviews were conducted. Genograms were constructed with the participation of members of the three generations. The interviews were submitted to thematic-reflexive analysis and the genograms interpreted from the family systemic referential. All the participants are among the oldest children in their families of origin, three of them being the first-born. For them, especially, the responsibility of caring for the younger siblings remained, as if they had a parental task over them. The results highlighted the family influence on the conjugal bond and the transmission of family inheritance. The mechanisms for the transmission of the meanings of marriage were the learning of behaviors linked to femininity, sharing of daily experiences, family traditions and relational patterns reinforced in the family and socially. Expectations prior to marriage and the baggage of the families of origin were evidenced in social roles and conflict resolution. Transgenerational and gender issues were highlighted in order to understand the transmission of contents as a way to maintain the family legacy.
Junia Denise Alves-Silva Fabio Scorsolini-Comin Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.03 Intergenerationality of child attachment and reflexes in conjugality and parenting https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/24600
This article aimed to describe the conceptions about intergenerational patterns of attachment in the conjugal and parental relationship of the members of the couple. 10 participants were interviewed, comprising five hetero-affective couples who had at least one child between zero and six years old. The interviews were analyzed using thematic categorical analysis, with the aid of the Atlas-ti software. It was found that attachment patterns are transmitted intergenerationally from the family of origin for generations to come, recursively influencing conjugality and parenting. Women showed more patterns of discontinuities than men, especially in the current parental relationship. In turn, men stressed the reference of their own parents' marriage and the values of marital commitment they received, motivating them to repeat such patterns in their adult love relationship. Such results provide reflections for the promotion of quality in family relationships.
Ana Paula Sesti Becker Maria Aparecida Crepaldi Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.04 Being in the neonatal ICU: perceptions of the parents about the experience of hospitalization and psychological care received in the unit https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/24901
This study aimed to investigate the perception of parents (mother and father) of premature babies admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit about the hospitalization and psychological assistance received in the unit. The sample consisted of 12 parents, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, and analyzed through the content analysis technique. The data collection period comprised the months of January to May 2021. While the suffering that marks hospitalization of the baby was evidenced through reports of fear and anguish, especially in the initial moments of hospitalization, were also described feelings of relief and happiness emerged from the awareness that the patient was receiving the necessary care available in the unit. The clinical improvement of the patient and the positive perception about the care offered by the health team contributed to the emotional stability of the parents during the hospitalization. The psychological assistance received was described as a promoter of support and reception and proved relevant in helping to cope with the situation experienced.
Amanda Chaves Rocha Henrique Lima Reis Mariá Lanzotti Sampaio Edi Cristina Manfroi Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.05 From mother to patient: the experience of motherhood in the context of cancer https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/24679
The diagnosis of cancer causes a crisis for the patient and his family. This impact is exacerbated when the patients are mothers, as the treatment affects the experience of motherhood. This study aimed to describe the experiences of women in relation to motherhood in the context of hospitalization for cancer. This is a qualitative, exploratory-descriptive and cross-sectional study, in which six women with children aged 3 to 9 years were interviewed. The results showed changes in motherhood after this diagnosis. Being a mother emerged as a central aspect of the participants' lives, with children being considered the greatest motivation for coping with the disease. Mothers demonstrated to be strongly bonded to their children and perceived good social support. It highlighted the difficulty of fulfilling the tasks of motherhood during treatment and the need of health professionals to assist patients in fulfilling these tasks, as far as possible in this context.
Flávia Santos da Silva Amanda da Silva Santos Sílvia Abduch Haas Daniela Centenaro Levandowski Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.06 Relationship between the symptoms of Internet Gaming Disorder and difficulties in emotion regulation in online game players https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/25191
Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) was included in the latest version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Among the diagnostic criteria are the act of gaming to avoid or alleviate negative mood and constant concern with games, which may be associated with emotional regulation. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between IGD symptoms and emotional regulation difficulties in online game players. A total of 216 respondents participated in the research, who answered an online form composed of sociodemographic questions, the Difficulty in Emotional Regulation Scale and the Game Addiction Scale. The results point to a positive correlation between the two scales (ρ = 0,36). The literature points out that the amount of hours played, the motivation for gaming and the game’s genre can contribute to the maintenance of the symptoms of the disorder, but also aspects related to emotional regulation in the context of online games, especially multiplayer games. Differences were found between the scores and gender of the participants, in which the female group had greater difficulties in emotional regulation, while the male group showed more symptoms of IGD. More studies are needed to deepen the discussion of the topic, considering the growing concern about possible clinical implications.
Raissa Lara Barros Cordeiro Bárbara Braga de Lucena Emanuela Maria Possidônio de Sousa Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.07 Psychopedagogical intervention in Brazilian undergraduate students identified with giftedness https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/24781
Despite the importance of attend the specific needs of students with High Abilities/Giftedness (HA/G), especially to ensure their full development and to promote the productivity of a country's human potential, actions aimed at identifying and monitoring in gifted Brazilian undergraduate students are still incipient. Therefore, this article describes a set of psychopedagogical procedures developed by the Programa de Evidenciamento Global de Altas Habilidades/Superdotação nas Universidades (PEGAHSUS) to promote the socio-emotional inclusion of these students. The actions go through the process of identification of giftedness, psychoeducational monitoring and psychopedagogical intervention. 1169 university students participated, between 2017-2019, in the identification process, 165 completed the psychological assessment and 105 were identified giftedness. With psychoeducational monitoring, the needs these students were verified. Three categories of psychopedagogical intervention were proposed, which served 56 university students from different courses: GATHERING for curriculum enrichment; GO-PEGAHSUS operating group with themes of self-perception, assertiveness, public speaking, frustration tolerance, resilience, anxiety, perfectionism and giftedness socio-emotional characteristics; Rodas de Conversa sobre Altas Habilidades/Superdotação. This study demonstrates the efficiency of a program in giftedness identifying and intervening, is supported in the need for formation and dissemination of inclusive practices in higher education that promote human and institutional development.
Katiane Janke Krainski Marlos Andrade de Lima Tatiana Izabele Jaworski de Sá Riechi Laura Ceretta Moreira Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.08 Suicide: the pain of bereaved survivors https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/24838
Suicide, an act of self-inflicted violence consciously desired and carried out by the subject with the intention of death, wich generates important repercussions in the family and social context. The present study aims to understand these reverberations in the bereaved survivors. Using a qualitative methodology, through semi-structured interviews, were sought to give voice to eleven people impacted by a suicide. All ethical precepts were upheld. The content analysis method proposed by Bardin (1977) structured the organization in two categories: “The Unnameable” and “The Guilt”. Analyzed based on studies about the understanding of mourning processes for those who are kept, supported by different theoretical approaches, with emphasis on the psychoanalytic orientations. As main results, stands out that among the result of the trauma of this loss, there is an absence of words, capable of naming the force of the unrepresentable operating in the psychic apparatus. Thus, as overwhelming feelings of guilt that imprison the bereaved in search of answers to possible motivations and their responsibility for the suicidal act. Therefore, stands out the importance of new studies, to support specialized care for bereaved survivors, as well as postvention strategies helping them to face the devastating pain of suicide and its repercussions.
Adriane Cristine Oss-Emer Soares Alpe Claudia Weyne Cruz Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.09 Meanings of the suicidal act between sadness and hopelessness: contributions from studies with Brazilians https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/24854
Suicide is a global public health problem, characterized by taboos and stigmas, which, when uncovered, could support training, education and prevention actions. In response to this demand, the present study aimed to identify the meanings that Brazilians attribute to suicide. A national survey was carried out with 3,453 Brazilian adults, who answered a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Free Word Association Technique (TALP), with the inducing stimulus “suicide”. The results were organized into two classes: 1) “Between despair and helplessness: the reasons for suicide”, which addresses possible motivations for suicide; and 2) “Survivors: meanings of suicide for the network of affection”, which presents aspects related to grief and pain experienced by survivors. Differences in evocations also emerged depending on the region of the country and sexual orientation. It is concluded that suicide is still surrounded by social stigmas and isolated associations to psychopathological conditions of the subject who presents suicidal behavior. Furthermore, the loss of a loved one by suicide is marked by an experience of unrecognized and lonely grief. Therefore, the need for educational promotion, prevention and postvention actions on the causes and care interventions aimed at the subject with suicidal behavior and family members becomes essential.
Jaiana Cristina Cândido Morais Liza Maria Studart de Meneses Cynthia de Freitas Melo José Clerton de Oliveira Martins Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.10 Mindfulness, self-compassion and deafness: an integrative literature review https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/24852
Mindfulness and self-compassion are current topics in the scientific area and have benefits evidenced by their practices. This article aimed to carry out na integrative literature review to understand how deaf or hard of hearing people are approached by the themes of mindfulness and self-compassion in scientific findings. The databases SciELO.org, PsycINFO (APA), Scopus (Elsevier), PUBMED, Web of Science, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and Periodical CAPES were used to search for scientific studies on the topics February 2022. Additionally, inclusion and exclusion criteria were adopted for the choice of material and, after the selection and eligibility steps, following the PRISMA protocol, three studies were selected. The results indicated adjustments in the preparation and delivery of proposals in mindfulness and the effects of the intervention on the mental health of the deaf population. In addition, the research found did not address the topic of self-compassion. It is suggested that further research can discuss the issues in question with deaf or hard of hearing people.
Valéria Maria Azevedo Guimarães Karine David Andrade Santos Joilson Pereira da Silva Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.11 Presentation https://www.revistas.unisinos.br/index.php/contextosclinicos/article/view/25958 Denise Falcke Copyright (c) 2022 Contextos Clínicos 2022-12-12 2022-12-12 15 3 10.4013/ctc.2022.153.ap
