Reduction in the development time of a product collection of a footwear company
Abstract
The purpose of this article was to describe a method to reduce the development time of a collection of thirty products from a company of the footwear industry. The research method was the design research applied in a children’s shoe company of Vale dos Sinos. The reduction was based on the use of techniques such as modeling, prototyping and deployment. The main contribution to the company was the reduction of the total time of development in almost 20%. Other contributions were the reduction in rework in manufacturing in more than 50%, the reduction of modifications of projects in more than 40% and the reduction of models rejection in more than 60%. The generalization of the findings to other industries was not an objective of the research.
