Resource innovation and financial performance in the Brazilian industry

Abstract

The research investigated the relationship between financial performance and innovation investments in Brazilian companies in 2003 and 2005 from a sample comprising 231 and 277 industrial companies each year. Data were examined by factor analysis and multiple regression, so that the first stratified the resource innovation and regression analysis confirmed only in 2005 the relationship between the resource innovation and financial performance. Investments in research and development in the companies and the investments to introduce new products or process in the market were the most significant in explaining the performance of the industry.
